Roasting is one of the heat treatment processes in the production process of carbon and graphite products. Roasting is a whole heat treatment process in which the formed carbon parts are loaded into the roaster, the asphalt in the raw block is carbonized into coke, and the carbon particles are connected to the whole heat treatment process with certain mechanical strength and physical and chemical properties. This conversion process needs to be completed at a certain heating rate under the condition of isolated air.
The formed raw products are composed of coke particles and binders. Due to the existence of asphalt binder, the properties of carbon block can not meet the requirements of aluminum electrolysis. In order to turn the carbon block into a finished product or semi-finished product with the required mechanical strength, heat resistance, corrosion resistance, good conductivity and thermal conductivity, it is necessary to roasting the carbon block according to a certain process specification. Roasting makes the binder coking, causes the aggregate to form the coking network, and firmly connects the big and the small aggregate together. Therefore, the essence of raw anode carbon block roasting is the coking of asphalt and the heat treatment process of carbon network formed by various particle size bone particles.
